Editorial purpose
Habitat Journal helps readers make more considered decisions about the spaces, objects and technology around them. We publish reported features, practical guides, reviews and opinion grounded in clear reasoning.
Research and evaluation
We begin with the reader’s use case, not a product’s marketing claims. Our assessments may draw on direct use, specification analysis, manufacturer documentation, expert consultation, comparative research and credible owner feedback. Articles should make the basis of an assessment clear.
Recommendations
A recommendation must explain who the choice suits, the problem it solves and the trade-offs involved. We do not describe a product as universally “best” when fit depends on room size, budget, household needs or personal preference.
Commercial relationships
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate relationships are kept separate from editorial conclusions. Commercial partners may not approve, rewrite or suppress an independent assessment. Material relationships are disclosed to readers.
Accuracy and corrections
We aim to verify names, prices, product details and material claims before publication. Information can change. When we identify a meaningful error, we correct it promptly and, where useful, note what changed.
Updates
Buying guidance should remain useful after publication. We may update articles when products are discontinued, important specifications change or stronger alternatives become available. The publication or update date appears on each story.
